NOBODY'S
SIDEKICK

The misunderstood poster boy.

I love Robins, they are one of my favourite birds. I have one living in an outbuilding we use for hay storage and he or she (males and females look identical) follows me around the garden.

This seemingly friendly behaviour is in fact a display of just how intelligent and brave Robins are. Far from being the cute poster boy/girl of our Christmas cards and the UK's favourite bird, they are in fact very territorial, especially in Spring. They are super independent, brave and fearless little birds often seeing off dozens of birds far bigger from a bird feeder.

It’s why I’ve painted my Robin as the caped crusader himself - any Robin I’ve ever come across would never be anyone’s sidekick.
